The initial focus areas are Editor/IDE integration, and CPAN Recommendations.
The vision of the committee is to help make these events happen by partnering with projects within the Perl community.
The goal is to make these events fun, rewarding, and successful, by being as accessible as possible. We also want to increase first time/one off contributions.
The committee hopes to improve accessibility by running these events as a hybrid of in-person and virtual attendance, with a primary location for people to attend in-person, virtual attendance from any location, and perhaps semi-formal/adhoc satellite locations. Further, we are eager to see how language barriers, visual impairment, hearing impairment, etc. can be brought down with video chat software (many with live transcription), text chat with modern translation, etc.
By working with projects before the event, a range of tasks will be available to help people of differing experience levels make their first contribution to the project.
The committee will reach out to various projects in the near future to get the ball rolling.
